What is inside

One original, fictional care home group for three lessons of about 55 minutes with Year 12 or 13. A new parcel depot pays more than the care homes and Sandrith cannot fill its care assistant jobs.

In Lesson 1 students work out the marginal revenue product of each care assistant, plot a demand curve for labour and decide which events shift it. In Lesson 2 they shift the supply curve, find the shortage on a diagram, calculate the elasticity of supply of labour and compare care assistants with nurses, linking elasticity to occupational immobility and to policies that tackle it. In Lesson 3 they read a pay cap and a minimum wage on a diagram, calculate the elasticity of demand for labour, compare five options for the county council with figures (weekly wage bill, extra jobs, cost per extra job) and write a recommendation of about 170 words with the figure at which the decision would change.

Each lesson plan counts the written work against the minutes; questions that do not fit are named as homework.

  1. Lesson1

Why do homes want care assistants, and how many?

The marginal revenue product of each care assistant, a demand table, a grid to plot a home's demand for labour, a shift or movement sort, a 70-word judgement.

  2. Lesson2

Why can't Sandrith find enough staff?

A supply shift and the shortage on a diagram, elasticity of supply of labour, care assistants against nurses, occupational immobility and policies to tackle it.

  3. Lesson3

    What should the council do?

A pay cap and a minimum wage on a diagram, elasticity of demand for labour, five options compared with cost per extra job, a 170-word recommendation.

Questions

What exactly do I get?

A student workbook and a teacher guide for one original, fictional case. Both come as PDF and as editable Word files. The teacher guide has the lesson plans, full worked answers, completed diagrams and indicative guidance for the written tasks.

Can I edit the files?

Yes. The Word files are editable, so you can change the business name, the figures or the questions before you set it. They were laid out and checked in LibreOffice, not Microsoft Word, so you may see small layout differences in Word; the PDF is the reference layout. The download is a ZIP that opens on Windows and Mac without extra software.

Is it a mark scheme, and is it endorsed?

No to both. The teacher guide gives full answers for calculations and tables, and indicative guidance plus an example answer for each written task. It is not an exam board mark scheme, and the pack awards no marks or grades. It is mapped to the specification by section but is not endorsed by Pearson, and contains no exam board questions.

How does delivery work?

After payment you are sent straight to your download page and get a Stripe receipt by email. The download page is personal to your purchase; bookmark it.

What if something is wrong with my order?

Email support@thebusiness.school. The refund policy covers duplicate charges, files you cannot open and products that do not match their description.
